What is K-Laser Therapy?
We are one of only a few clinics in the whole of the United Kingdom have the Class 4 K-Laser Cube 4 (Low Level Laser Therapy or cold laser). All our Physiotherapists professionally trained in the use of this advanced system for treating pain and maximising healing.
K Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling.
Laser Therapy has been widely utilised by physiotherapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s. However, with the availability of new technology and new research, we are able to get better results than what has previously been possible.
The K-Laser is the most advanced laser on the market, it utilises the highest grade of laser and combines 4 specific wavelengths at the same time. What that means is less treatment time, and reduced costs for treating chronic pain conditions as well as more acute soft tissue injuries.

The K Laser Therapy will increase circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients into the treated area, creating an optimal situation for healing. The Laser light works by stimulating the body at a cellular level. It increased the metabolic activity of the cells ensuring an improved delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the cells, and improves the cells energy production which starts a series of events within the cell which improves its function and improves the health of the area treated.
Effects of the treatment is a reduction in inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain. As the condition improves, we see a quicker return to full function and progress through your rehabilitation.
The Benfits of Laser Therapy
K- Laser is one of the most technological advanced and exciting therapies we have for natural healing and pain relief. Laser Therapy has been around since the 80’s, however the development of the Class 4 K-Laser is a more recent advancement and only recently become available in the UK. With a large evidence base behind it showing the clinical effectiveness of Laser Therapy for providing pain relief and improved healing in a range of conditions. K Laser therapy has become a drug and pain free treatment of choice, which can provide dramatic results when used right.
K-Laser can be used independently, but is often used in conjunction with Physiotherapy, to increase the effectiveness of the treatment for faster results.

For some conditions, improvement can be felt from the first treatment. However, for more chronic conditions the treatment is accumulative and require more treatment to get an improvement. The treatment starts to work immediately, but sometimes it takes 3-4 treatments to feel an improvement. In our experience, people feel a change in their symptoms that have been there for years even after 2-3 sessions.
The average treatment time is somewhere between 4-6 minutes, however, we may need to cover more than one area depending on the problem we are treating. You are probably thinking that’s not long… but this is one of the features of the K-Laser Cube 4. Cheaper less power full machines are available, but will take a long time to deliver the required dose of treatment for the same treatment effect. The K-Laser has been shown to produce better results in a fraction of the time it would take a less advanced laser.
As always this depends on what we are treating. An acute condition may only need 1-5 sessions, but a more chronic long standing pain condition may need 10-12 treatments. Little and often is recommended in the start and 2 treatments per week are often the case for the first couple of weeks with weekly appointments thereafter.
