Do you suffer form Erectile Dysfunction?
Focused Shockwave Therapy is a treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) and impotence, which involves passing short, sound waves into affected tissues, which increases blood flow, and stimulates nerve repair, allowing the body to restart its own accelerated healing process.
The treatment is non-invasive, safe and has no side effects. The effectiveness is clinically research proven with long term positive results reported between 72-80%. The treatment works by improving blood flow through the penis which can result in stronger and longer lasting erections. Shockwave therapy can help patients suffering from ED obtain a spontaneous, sustainable erection and even improve erections in men with no issues to prevent erectile dysfunction. It is compatible with other treatments for erectile dysfunction so there is no need to stop any ongoing treatment.
As you are aware, adequate blood flow is essential for getting and maintaining a man’s erection.
Shockwave Therapy promotes angiogenesis (this means the development of new blood vessels into the area) so that blood flow into the penis is improved, and stronger erections are achieved. If you are currently on medication for this and it is effective, this is a good sign that Shockwave Therapy can work for you. It also helps the healing of the smooth muscles in penis. It has been shown that in patients suffering from Erectile Dysfunction the smooth muscles that surround the blood vessels are damaged and this reduces function.
Our ED trained Shockwave Therapy Practitioner during your consultation will determine with you whether this is an appropriate treatment for you. They will also give you other recommendations and discuss with you what kind of results you can expect. The treatment itself takes about 15 minutes on the shaft of the penis and some surrounding tissue. It is not normal to feel any pain during treatment but some patients have differing sensations.
The treatment protocol for maximum efficiency of the treatment, and backed up by clinical research, is 6 sessions over a 6 week period.
The research shows us that ⅔ of people who undergo this treatment will be able to have a spontaneous and sustainable erection following treatment. The results depend on the individual. If there are other factors that need to be addressed this will be advised by the practitioner or an onward referral to a suitable professional will be arranged.
Some patients will notice changes during the treatment course, however in some cases results can take a bit longer to reach its full effect. If no change has been noted after 3-4 months then other treatment may be necessary. The biological effects of Shockwave Therapy are permanent and have been established on a basic science level.
However, erectile dysfunction is a complex condition that depends on the lifestyle of the patient. Erectile dysfunction is often a symptom of underlying health issues which lead to ED. Addressing these issues may be helpful in improving your erectile dysfunction and maintaining the effect of the treatment. Improvements made during treatment can over time be reversed if the underlying problems aren’t addressed. The research tells us however that improvements that are achieved from the treatment are maintained for at least 1 year after treatment when the research studies stop.

18 months ago I had a circumcision which caused a whole host of problems: Erectile dysfunction, Loss of control of ejaculation, Complete loss of sensation. I was extremely depressed about it and I really didn’t think there was anything I could do about it. I didn’t want to go to a Urologist who would of only offered me some extreme surgical solution that would have caused more problems than I had to begin with. After frequenting Internet forums I found out about Low Intensity Shockwave therapy, it looked promising and I thought I’d give it a shot. I rang multiple different clinics around country and the best quote I got was from Indergaard Physio therapy. I was really impressed by Ove and his team who I thought were very professional. The treatment itself has worked wonders, it completely cured my ED, improved control, and it’s even improved sensation, which I didn’t think was possible. I consider it to be nothing short of a superior technique and I highly recommend it.
